Reverend Dr. James Howe began his ministry in the Parish of the Siskiyous on March 1, 2008.

Jim is a 1977 graduate of California State University, Chico. He attended Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA by extension from 1985 through 1989. He received his Masters of Divinity from Regent College in Vancouver, B.C., Canada in 1990 and a Doctorate of Ministry from Fuller Theological seminary in 2002.

Both Jim and his wife, Kerry, are very familiar with Siskiyou county. Kerry was born and raised on a cattle ranch near Granada. Jim worked at the Scott Valley Berean Church and Weed Berean Church as Youth Director.

Jim served as Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Bickelton, WA, from 1990 to 1995. In 1995 he was called to be pastor at Community Presbyterian Church in Waldport, OR where he served until February 2008.

Jim Howe grew up under the teaching of the great expositor Dr. Ray Stedman of Peninsula Bible Church.  Jim has studied under R. C. Sproul, J. I. Packer and Gordon Fee.  He loves to preach through the bible in a way that connects the ancient truth of the bible with the modern world.  His sermons are available from every week’s service on the church website.

He was the Young Life area director in Siskiyou County during the 1980’s and is currently working with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship to develop a strong student movement at College of the Siskiyous. Jim has been trained as a spiritual director.  Jim is a member of the Siskiyou Food Assistance Board which feeds those in the area who have need for emergency food assistance.  Jim longs to see Grace Community Church become an incubator for people who want to get to know Jesus Christ, to grow in their faith as disciples and to impact the world.
