James Scott

James Scott says, “Someone gave me a tree in 1972, and I was so impressed that I found out who had made it. I tracked down Khan Komai in the Los Angeles area and asked him to be my teacher, and I became his student.” It has been Jim’s obsession for 33 years. In his tiny yard on Rose Street in Dunsmuir, Jim has hundreds in his collection in the traditional and classical styles. Several of them will be at the nursery.

Diane Twitchell

Bonsai that incorporate rocks in their design are called Ishitsuki or Penjing. There are many kinds. Some are planted into hollows or crevices of natural rocks, some are planted atop thin slabs of rock, and others ae planted in pots with exposed roots grasping rocks or they can be planted on shallow trays of water. Diane Twitchell is an artist at the placement and selection of these various materials. A few of her pieces will be at the nursery.
