Mount Shasta Seasons Photos

Bill Hart and Jean Kahn September 2001 Visit

Highlights and Comments:

September 1:We met Bill (Jennie's cousin) and Jean about noon at the Weed airport. Bill had flown them here in his Beech Bonanza from Orange county. After lunch and house tour we drove up Mount Shasta to the old ski bowl. On the way down we stopped and hiked to the spring at Upper Panther Meadow. We stopped in town in time to catch the end of the antique car display, visit some of the shops on Mt. Shasta Blvd. After supper on the patio we watched a full moon rise over the mountain.

September 2:We showed our visitors more of the local sights: The better residential areas; fish hatchery; Sisson local history museum; Castle Lake; Black Bear Gallery; and Sacramento river headwaters spring. That evening we drove to the Mount Shasta Golf Resort and enjoyed a concert performance by the amazingly talented Craig Chaquico. It was a balmy, clear evening and in mid concert the full moon rose again.

September 3:We all arose early and drove north the few miles on I-5 to the Weed airport. We said our goodbyes and Bill and Jean lifted off at about 7:45 a.m. with Mount Shasta looming off their right wing. We watched them climb to the north and then turn back south and pass overhead as a tiny speck at 9,000 feet headed for home. It had been a most enjoyable visit and it seemed that Bill may have come under the spell of Mount Shasta. This happens to many visitors.
