This is a saying (acronym) madeby the ticket agents of cruise ships, way back in the earlier part of thiscentury.  Wealthy people would ask for a room on board a cruise ship(leaving Southampton, docks in England) on the Port side Out,Starboard side Home, because the sun would shine on the Portside leaving Southampton, and shine on the Starboard side coming Home.
