BACK

THE WEED MERCANTILE - circa 1901 MURAL:  Located on the Weed Mercantile Mall Building at 590 Main Street in Weed.

Designed and painted by Daryl Edward Brooks who was born in 1945 in Reno, Nevada.  He began painting at an early age, inspired by his father's interest in painting and drawing.  He pursued a fine arts education in the Bay Area, attending the Academy of Art in San Francisco; California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland; and College of Marin in the Bay Area.  Living in the Bay Area greatly influenced his knowledge of fine art and expanded his creativity as a artist.  He has lived in Weed since 1973, and has been involved in the performance arts as well as the visual arts, designing stage sets and acting in numerous plays throughout Siskiyou County.
