It is necessary to have real "hands-on" experience in Novell Netware, to be competent, and trustworthy to be a Novell Netware System Administrator. It is not always so easy for a college to set up a lab where many students can obtain this "hands-on" experience.
Especially due to the secretive nature of the security precautions in Netware, it may be necessary for many students to set up a small Novell Netware network lab at their own home, using inexpensive, slightly older personal computers, and recycled, slightly older, kinds of network interface cards, cables, hubs, routers, and other hardware.
The software can also be obtained as recycled copies, on this
online auction.
Formerly called "AuctionWeb", it is now named
"eBay",

As companies upgrade their real networks to the latest and greatest, they increasingly are learning that they can turn their old versions into cash.
Many of the Novell Netware books are found there, also.
You can also find inexpensive older PCs there, that you can buy to make the small network.
After a student has had enough of this real "hands-on" experience at their own home lab, they will become competent and trustworthy to be hired for a real job as System Administrator.
There are colleges that have published web pages about their own computer networking courses.
An acceptable way to demonstrate competency in this subject has been
developed: the CNA and CNE exams.
