newspaper.jpgThe Library’s online databases are the perfect resource for anyone wanting to search the latest news, get information on subject areas, or even find particular magazine or newspaper articles.  From the New York Times to refereed academic journals, the Library’s online databases cover a wide range of periodical and news content. There are even databases covering gold mining and Siskiyou County newspapers. 

The Library pays a subscription fee to gain access to more than 35 million articles from a variety of mainstream and specialized sources.  As a library cardholder you have access to this valuable resource free of charge and can even search from your home computer at any time.

Searching the databases can be intimidating at first but the following tips can help get you started: 

·       Scan the menu to the right of this screen until you see the link that looks closest to your topic of research.

·    “The Magazine Index” might be a good place to start since it contains a variety of databases.  Type in your library card number.  The next screen will give you a list of the databases available. Choose which one you think will work for you and you can begin researching!
