Paul McHugh, recently retired from a 22-year career as Outdoor Editor for the San Francisco Chronicle, is author of The Search for Goodbye to Rains (Island Press) and Wild Places (Foghorn Books). Adventurer, novelist, journalist, and poet, McHugh will read from a selection of works both past and present. $5 suggested donation
Scott Valley Libraries Annual Writing Contest 2010 " Gone Fishin "
The Fort Jones and Etna Libraries' celebration of National Library Week in 2010 will include the Gone Fishin' Writing Contest. Tell us your real or imagined fish story. You could exaggerate and create a whopper. You could go fishing for (looking for) something other than fish. You could tell where they really went after hanging a Gone Fishing sign on their door...
RULES:
Attend to the theme.
3 page maximum, no minimum. 5 page double spaced is acceptable.
Original work only (young children may dictate to a parent or friend). Must be received by 5pm at the Fort Jones Library or Etna Library Thursday March 18st. Download an entry form at
Help raise money to buy books for Siskiyou County Libraries
Budgetary cuts have hurt our libraries. Any size donation is appreciated. So far the campaign has raised $5475 and 110 new books have already been purchased. With a donation of $20, a bookplate can be placed in a book to acknowledge your generosity. Make checks payable to Friends of the Yreka Library.
