Library Proves to be Successful at Promoting Children’s Learning

With school back in session, Siskiyou County Library’s Summer Reading Program has wrapped up and the statistics have been calculated to show another successful three months of programming. There were a total of 412 children that participated in the programs provided by 11 of the county branch libraries.

Some other impressive summer reading numbers include:
67 summer reading programs/events/activities held for Pre-school age and younger
58 programs/events/activities held for School-age Siskiyou County children
13 programs/events for teens
26 family programs with 277 participants

Even though summer reading is done, most branch libraries through-out the county still hold a regular story-time session and other special events for children of all ages. Please contact your nearest branch for more details. Providing children’s programming is only one important service provided by the library system. The mission of the library is to provide information, educational and recreational materials, and lifelong learning opportunities to all residents of Siskiyou County.
