Butte Valley News

The Butte Valley Library recently received a grant from the Libri Foundation of Eugene, Oregon for $1500 of fiction and non-fiction children's books. The Butte Valley Friends of the Library will have to match $500 by October to collect this grant. If you'd like to help out, donations may be made to the Butte Valley Friends of the Library, PO Box 992, Dorris CA 96023.

The Butte Valley Library is the recipient of a generous donation of a Merlin Enhanced Vision machine from local rancher J. Lee Harrington. The machine enables individuals with low vision to read, write and view photos. Large buttons allow the user to adjust the viewing size. The machine is available for use by any community member and would be a good way for vision impaired folks to determine if they would benefit from a similar machine at home.

A big THANK-YOU to Mary Barnett who spent three hours in a rainsotrm weeding the front entrance to the library garden. Great job! More garden caretakers are needed as well as in-library assistants.
