More Books for Montague

The American Library Association (ALA) in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Humanities has recently awarded the Montague Branch Library with a set of new books.
The grant consists of a series known as the We the People Bookshelf, and the theme is Created Equal.
Included are seventeen books in English, four books in Spanish, and a resource kit on Abraham Lincoln with several CD's and a book.
The We the People Bookshelf, a collection of classic books for young readers, is a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities’ (NEH) We the People program, conducted in cooperation with the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office.
Each year, NEH identifies a theme important to the nation's heritage and selects books that embody that theme to build the We the People Bookshelf. The theme for the 2007-2008 Bookshelf is “Created Equal.” Public and school (K-12) libraries were invited to apply online from September 10, 2007 through January 25, 2008. A total of 3,000 libraries have been selected to receive the “Created Equal” Bookshelf.
There will be a celebration in honor of receiving the Bookshelf, just before Memorial Day, on May 22nd, 2008, at 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Everyone is invited!
