Jeopardy, or How to Play it With Your Grade

Any student who engages in behavior which, in the instructor’s judgment, disrupts, demeans, or in any way trivializes either the subject matter or the learning atmosphere of the class will receive an “F” for the semester.

Examples of such conduct include:

  • Lackluster participation in class activities.

  • Talking to others while the instructor is speaking.

  • Doing other homework or reading the newspaper during class.

  • Noisily shuffling papers and zipping backpacks before class is dismissed.

  • Unexcused absence.

  • Habitual tardiness.

  • Verbal Disrespect.

What will happen?

  • First Offense:  Verbal warning

  • Second Offense:  A written warning on department letterhead
sent to your home with a  copy to your file.

  • Third Offense:  You will be invited to drop the class.

What if I don't wish to drop?

This isn't high school; I don't have to keep you. If you are unhappy in this class, keep it a secret from me and from other class members, or arrange to drop through admissions and records.  You cannot project an attitude of dissatisfaction and expect a good grade.

I have read the Jeopardy page and understand the consequences of rude or disruptive behavior in this course.  ______________________________(Date)_______________
