Hearts and Flowers Door Hang_pg2

After shading both sides, this is what we have:

1. Now go up to Effects>Noise>Add and add noise of 7% with Uniform checked.

2. Add a new vector layer. We are going to make a heart outline around the outside edge using your Preshapes tool set to ellipse, line width 10, Antialias and Vector CHECKED, Retain style Unchecked.

3.Set your foreground color to a dark color-I used #735367 and the background color to null. At this point, if you already know how to make a heart around the outside edge, then click here to continue to the next page and skip this explanation.

4.Using your Preshapes tool start at the upper left of your merged heart, and draw out an ellipse like this:

5. Click on your object selector then right click on your image and choose node edit. this is what you will see now:

6.Now right click on the top center node(node 1 in the picture above) and choose Node type>Symmetric, now left click on that same node, choose Node Type>Cusp and hold the mouse button down and move that node to the crevice of the inside heart(Fig 1 below). Then click on the arrow on the left and pull that arrow up and slightly to the left, and then left click on the little "circle" on the right and pull it up and slightly to the left(Fig 2 below).

7.Now right click on the bottom center node(node 3) and choose Node type>Cusp(if this is grayed out, then it is already set to cusp) now left click on that same node and then click on the little handle on the right and move that up and towards the left to bring in the right side to the edge of your bottom heart. Then click on the little arrow head and move that up and to the right to bring in the right edge. Like this:

8.Now right click on the right side node and choose Node type>Symmetric, then left click on the little black box and move it slightly up along the edge of your bottom heart. Then push the little arrow down towards the little black box and then push the little circle up towards the little box so that your ellipse conforms more to the shape of the heart..Like this:

9.Repeat step 9 for the left side this time clicking on the left node(node4). This is what you should have now:

10.Okay..now we just need to move the bottom sides in a bit, and we are done with it(and not a moment to soon for you eh?..lol..just remember..vectors are our friend :o)). Now hold down your control key on your keyboard, and move your mouse to the right side of your drawing halfway between node 2 and node 3 until you see the little black arrow with the word +ADD then left click once. This will add a new node(fig 3 below). We are then going to click on that node, and move it in to the edge of your heart(fig 4 below). Like so:

11.Now do the same thing to the left side, placing the new node between node 3, and node 4. When you are all done, and have your new nodes in place, then right click and choose Quit Node Editing(I bet you thought this would never end...lol) This is what you should have now:

Okay now stop and pat yourself on the back and take a break before we move on. You did great!!
