New anti-spam measures
We have added a new anti-spam measure, called greylisting, to our incoming mail servers. Greylisting works by delaying mail from addresses the server has never seen before for a few minutes before the server will accept it. This is effective against spam because most spam sources do not try to send the mail again, but legitimate sources will. This technique will not cause you to lose any mail, but some mail may be delayed. You can use the mail control panel to turn greylisting on and off for your account.

Storm Disrupts Wireless Service

Service from our wireless relays coming down from Gray Butte were disrupted during last night's lightning storm. While good signals are still being broadcast from the wireless relays, one of the network components bridging the relay has apparently failed sometime during the storm.

As a result, wireless internet customers in McCloud and those customers in Mount Shasta who point their antennae toward Gray Butte will be able to receive a working wireless signal but not be able to connect to the internet.

Please be advised that we are working toward resolving this outage. However, due to circumstances out of our control (such as weather, access to the facility on Gray Butte, availability of replacement equipment, etc) we may not be able to immediately restore service to the McCloud and Mount Shasta areas. At this time, we advise all wireless customers impacted by this outage to switch to the dialup connection that is provided with the wireless internet service. For assistance in setting this up, please call us at our offices and we will be happy to assist you.
