Two sitting opportunities are offered per
week at the MacVeagh House at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural
History. (The McVeagh House is behind
Fleishman Auditorium back from the parking lot a bit).
Mondays 7:15-8:00
Thursdays 5:30-6:15
Sit for
45 minutes (starting right on time, so please come a bit
early). Chairs, zabutons and zafu's are provided. On Mondays they visit
a
bit afterwards for those who want to stay. Every other Monday there
is an
optional 15 minute dharma talk or guided meditation after the 45 minute
sit. Most of those coming do insight meditation and many practice at
Spirit Rock in the Theravadan tradition. Meditators from all traditions
are welcome. The group varies from 6 or 7 to about 20 depending on
the
night and season. We have no formal leader. Meditation instruction
is available from 5-5:30 on Thursdays and beginners are especially
welcome. Contacts: Alice Alldredge (alldredg@lifesci.ucsb.edu) and
