California Kamloops Camp is situated in the east end of the Dekkas Creek inlet at the north end of the upper McCloud river arm, two miles north of Hirz Bay public launch ramp.
"Kamloops Kamp" the jewel of the Shasta Trinity National Recreation Area draws visitors from all over the west coast and beyond.
Cruising Lake Shasta's 370 miles of shoreline is an unforgettable experience. You can explore for days the inlets and many coves.
Take advantage of our scenic lake-view campgrounds. The ultimate vacation experience. As a member or a guest, you and/or your family can enjoy these facilities for day use or overnight camping.
An organization camp, Kamloops Kamp has 30 camp sites, with wood stoves and tables, many other sites are also available including organizational Group Campsites.
Facilities include, Septic Tank Bathroom facilities with Flush Toilets. Hot Showers, Children's playground, Horse Shoe Pits, Nature Trails, Cook House, A water pressure system (which also generates electric power) Barbecue Pits, Refrigeration.
These amenities are made available to members and non-members on a fee basis.
To further enhance your stay there is a camp host employed year round to supervise the area.
The upper McCloud river area of Lake Shasta with its wide expanse of water is popular for skiing because of its normally smooth open area. The upper McCloud arm has exceptional scenery, lush vegetation and craggy granite walls.
Lake Shasta's summer water temperature averages 77 degrees. Perfect for swimming, fishing and any water sports.
For the simple pleasures of tent camping California Kamloops Inc. On Lake Shasta offers a scenic, full service campground that is commentated to helping you enjoy the great outdoors.
California Kamloops on Lake Shasta is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including black tailed deer, rocky mountain elk, great blue herons, raccoons, black bears, gray fox and ospreys. Bird lovers will find plenty to see in the area. This is home to 274 species of birds. The lake also supports the largest number of bald eagles in California.
You may want to tailor your vacation to the time of year and location that best suits your fishing needs. December through February; German Browns and Crappie, some Catfish and Bass. March through May; excellent for German Browns, KAMLOOPS and Rainbow Trout, large and small mouth Bass, some Catfish and Crappie. June through August; Great for large and small mouth Bass, Catfish and Crappie, some trout very deep. September through November; good for Tout as water cools, some Bass, Catfish and Crappie.
Take I-5 to the Salt Creek/Gilman Road off ramp. Go east on Gilman Road 10 miles to Hirz Bay Launch Ramp. From Hirz Bay travel north on the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake two miles to Dekkas Creek Inlet and Kamloops Kamp.
