"LOGAN'S RUN" (pilot information) Synopsis It is the 23rdCentury some 200 years since the Nuclear War raged to an end. Beneath glowing giant domes is a highly sophisticated world controlled by computers in which people savor a life devoted only to pleasure. In this perfect society, no one is allowed to live past the age of 30. However, on Lastday, one's 30th birthday, the 30-year-olds must enter the Ceremony of the Carrousel to be either "terminated" or "renewed." However, there are those who balk at the longevity law, who run in search of "Sanctuary ." And when they do, a Sandman, member of an elite police unit, hunts them down. When Logan (GREGORY HARRISON), a Sandman, is convinced by Jessica (HEATHER MENZIES), a member of the underground, that there is a better world outside, the two escape the. City of.Domes. Together they set off on an extraordinary adventure that takes them to the world outside -- a vast, desolate, sunbaked desert landscape. Upon encountering a blinding rainstorm, they seek shelter in the ruins of Washington, D.C. Later they discover a hovercraft (circa 2119) which transports them just about anywhere. All the while, Sandman Francis (RANDY POWELL) and his three cohorts - Riles (RON HAJEK), Akers (J. GARY DONTZIG) and Ketcham (ANTHONY DE LONGIS) -- are in hot pursuit of Logan and Jessica. A brief confrontation with Francis ensues, but the two runners escape miraculously via the hovercraft. While the hovercraft is moving along a mountain road, it suddenly comes under the control of a mysterious force called a monolith. The vehicle settles to the ground, and Logan and Jessica are met by Draco (KEENE CURTIS) and Siri (LINA RAYMOND) who take them to a magnificent citadel called The Mountain City where all is polite, gracious and friendly. In the Room of Celebration, where Logan and Jessica are feasted upon their visit, they meet the "masters" of the city -- a group of skeletons, all partially covered by black velvet robes. Logan and Jessica attempt to escape the "party," but are captured by these robots who are programmed not to harm anyone, only to serve. An air duct leads them to a futuristic laboratory where Rem (DONALD MOFFAT) is repairing a female robot. He, too, is anxious to leave The Mountain City, and joviallyjoins Logan and Jessica. They are confronted by Francis and his Sandmen again, but the robots appear and take them away. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Rem is an android, the ultimate human computer. The trio settles comfortably into the hovercraft and disappear into the distance as Logan and Jessica describe the joys of Sanctuary (freedom...loyalty...love) to a now very fascinated Rem.
