Who's Who
The Destruction

Updated 3-9-03

I guess the top floor of DSHQ was packed with explosives for some reason.

96 x 72

Logan shooting the "Thinker"
sets off a chain reaction!

Sandman HQ in ruins!

Sandman are crushed by giant paper mache boulders!

"Balding Red Guy" is also seen in this shot.

In the original script there were other shots. People in the Love Shop were to panic and pour out into Arcade. The outdoor resteraunt location was also to have a panic sequence. Some scripts also had panic sequences near the residence pool! As far as I can tell the 'filemd' panic and running was confined to the Arcade and the Great Hall.

Citizens look on at their exploding city!

Front and center this time!
Theres' no need to fear "Balding Red Buy" is here!

Hey! He found the secret EXIT
from the City of Domes!

The city in flames!

"Balding Red Guy" again.

"Balding Red Guy's" final appearance in the movie.

To the left is the Carousel escape sequence
where hundreds of extra attempt to get out
of the burning carousel set!

This shot appears only for about 10 frames!

Some nice blue screen stunt work!

The following film cells are from test prints or dailies of the special effects. They show an early sequence showing the dome blowing off steam and glowing red. The clips have faded a bit over the years. I hope you like them. I think this has to do with the fact that in the script the domes were to crumble away allowing the people to exit. I think that after watching how dull it looked on film they decided sometime more explosive was necessary.

The 'steam' explosion can also be seen in this B&W pic below.

The End

96 x 75

After the domes crack and explode citizens start to emerge. Please note there are NO Sandmen present bsides Logan in this sequence. I guess they all died inside the City of Domes. Overall I loved the fact that during this sequence no had any dialogue. I also liked the fact they gave the "Timid Girl" a credit even though she has no lines.

The old man is still waiting.

People start to emerge.
They must have found the EXIT sign!

What a wide angle lens they are using!

People approach the old man.
The "timid Girl" touches his face.

96 x 71

The people, seeing it is OK, gather
round and touch the old man.

How many domes can you count?

Ooops! This one is backwards!

After the movie came out it did quite well at the box office. Another movie was in the planing stages but then Star Wars came out and CBS wanted a TV series the new movie devolded into a TV series.

A broadcast of the movie on CBS occured shortly before the series started. To the right is the TV guide advertisement for the screening of the movie. Hey? Was Logan 29? Hey! Who are they trying to kid? He had four more years left!

Anyhow this unsual shaped advertisemnt (a trapazoid) was used on most of the early TV guide advertisements. Interesting that Farah got a pic in the advertisement. Well, then agian I bet a pic of Peter in that makeup would not have drawn too many viewers; )

And so we come to teh end of my favorite movie of all time. Now that you are done with the movie.. visit the rest of the site!

If you have any clue as to who "Balding Red Guy" is please e-mail me! I would love to find out the rest of the story!
