First off ARK II (a 15 episode Flimation series form 1976) had nothing to do with Damnation Alley's landmaster! Really! Stop taking about it it messes up people searching for the Landmaster it on the internet. Just like the sentence above will do in a month or two : ) While the vehicle in ARK II was very cool it was taken apart the next year to become the front of the Strar Seeker in Space Academy. Ark II page coming next year!
What was the movie all anout anyhow? check out the
Stomp Tokyo review!

The Landmaster was created by Dean Jefferies for the movie Damnation Alley. the movie, sort of based on the book Survival Run by Roger Zelazney, was released in 1977 and quickly vanished. Except for the memory of the vehicle.

The years inbetwwen were long.
The Landmaster did make an
apearance in the movie APEX
where it is seen in the background.
Mostly it sat in Dean Jeffereis
car lot and even in disrepair it
looked impressive.

Thanks to Chris Elliot, his TV series Get A Life, and 20th Century Fox the Landmanster is once agian in good running order. It was reconditioned to be in the episode of Get A Life called Paperboy 2000 where it threatened to put Chris' character out of work! In the series Chris plays a grown man who holds down a paperboy job. It also appeared in a movie theme ride Dino Island where it was the vehicle you were supposed to be riding in, however the vehicle itself only appears in the pre-ride video shown while you wait in line. I had the opportunity to see this while visiting Marine World in CA. While visiting hollywood with Terry Whittier in April of 2001 I was priviliged to have a chat with Dean Jeffieris who let me peek inside the Landmaster. What first struck me about this vehicle was how large it was. From some angles it looks absolutely gigantic! It is now mostly protected from the elements by a newly constructed metal roof. It was a great thril to be able to touch this fantastic work of mechanical of art. More of Dean's fantastic work can be seen on the Logan's Run vehicle page!
