Welcome to...

Different types of Goop!

  • UPDATE

6-2002 Yes it is back again! After being a dry country for many months the goop factories of Tiawan are once again flowing! I have spotted goop again at the local Toys R Us as well as the local Wal-Mart. Stock up now before it vanishes. Goop Sticks do not seem to have re-appeared unfortunately.

Please keep in mind that time passes very quickly and you should consider this page more as a historical retrospect and not a currnet list of products you can buy.

  • Originally there were only a few colors of goop. In 1964 there were thirteen assorted colors avaliabe in 2oz and 6 1/3oz bottles. In 1968 There were 14 colors avaliabele (according to the catalog. What that extra color was is anyone's guess as it is not listed there) in 4 four different sizes. Later Glow goop was added but it came only in one color and often had little bubbles once cooked.

The small bottles of goop were even smaller than the tiny goop bottles of today which hold 1.5oz. so they were probably about 1oz. bottles. It is not clear exactly what colors 'classic' Plasti-Goop came in, however I did come across an old order from from Mattel dated 1969 which listed the following 4oz. bottles of goop which would arrive at your door postpaid for $1.35 each.

    • Clear
    • NITE-GLO(Registered TM)
    • Fleshtone (this was a off pink color)
    • Purple
    • White
    • Olive Drab
    • Black
    • Red
    • Green
    • Yellow
    • Fluorescent Green
    • Fluorescent Blue
    • Fluorescent Pink
    • Fluorescent Orange

Icky Yuk "Super-oozy stuff puts wiggles 'n wobbles into... all Mattel THINGMAKER Toys!". This may have been avaliable in other colors in later years, but I can not find anyone who will confirm this and it is listed in the catalogs in these colors only. I know that the Eeeks Maker Pak came with only this type of goop, and that it had four colors including red, green, yellow and black.

    • Fluorescent Green
    • Fluorescent Blue
    • Fluorescent Pink
    • Fluorescent Orange
    • Black
    • Red

Super Goop A lot of my friends had the Johnny Lightning Toy makers. These were similar to the Thingmakers, but had goop which hardened like very stiff, but still slightly bendable, plastic. I am unclear what colors were avaliable. I think the following were made.

    • Fluorescent Green
    • Fluorescent Yellow
    • Fluorescent Pink
    • White
    • Brown ?
    • Purple ? (could have been a friend of mine who mixed two colors together...)

With the release of the new Thing-Maker toys a new crop of goop has shown up.

    • Plasti-Goop This comes in many, many colors.
      • Clear (packaged only in the 1.5oz. size)
      • Dark Green
      • Purple
      • Black
      • Light Blue (also in the glamor goop line)
      • Dark Blue
      • Avocado (almost an Olive Drab)
      • Orange
      • Brown
      • White
      • Fluorescent Pink (glamor goop line)
      • Fluorescent Green (glamor goop line)
      • Fluorescent Orange (glamor goop line)
      • Off White (sort of a flesh color)
      • Red (various shades depending on manufacture)
      • Magenta
      • Banana Yellow (also in the glamor goop line)
    • Giant Plasti-Goop (Just normal goop in a bigger 5oz. bottle)
      • White
      • Black
      • Yellow
      • Red
      • Blue

    • Color-Change Plasti-Goop (changes color in hot water)
      • Red
      • Blue
      • Green
      • Lime Green (this was a much brighter color than the normal green (seen packaged with blue)
      • Orange
    • Glamour Goop
    • Scented Glamor Goop I guess it smells nice. I wish it smelled like the original goop!
    • Glitter Glamour Goop This contains glitter material.
    • Metallic Plasti-Goop This is the same as Glitter Glamour Goop
      • Green
      • Blue
      • Red
      • Gold
    • Stretch Plasti-Goop (This stretches up to 8 times original size!) This particular type of goop goes bad after a short period of time even in sealed bottles. If it looks lumpy in the bottles at the store watch out!
      • Green
      • Blue
      • Pink
    • Plasti-Steel (Similar to the old Super-Goop but has metallic flakes)
      • Grey (sort of silver)
      • Blue
      • Red
    • Eraser Plasti-Goop (Use your creepy crawlers to erase your mistakes.) I recently found some of this At at Target store. This would have been great when I was young as a way to explain why I was bringing those plastic Eeeks! to school with me.
      • Yellow
      • Green
      • Blue
      • Red
    • Goop-FX Sticks (These are thin containers with a pointy tip used for adding details to critters. The 3-D insect sets came with very tiny Goop-FX Sticks (the scorpion came with Orange and Brown/Orange). Goop-FX is a very thick material and is not as runny as regular goop. This has been the best thing about the new series of thingmaker toys! Now you can actually create the fine details on all your old molds! These do not usually need to be shaken before use, however you might want to squirt out a tiny bit to make certain just in case.. These are sold in packages of 5 and the sets currently currently seem to have 4 color patterns.
      • Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Black (sort of a basic colors set)
      • Dark Brown, Dark Green, Bright Orange, Green/White, Brownish Orange (sort of a earth tones set)
      • Neon Pink, Purple, Orange, Green White or White, Navy Blue
      • Dark Green, Yellow, Purple, Plum/Magenta, Dark Pink

The very first Creepy Crawler set had bottles with a picture of a bug on them! and are highly collectable These bottles were included in the The Vacu-Maker set and they were alos included in the Creepy Crawlers set. I am not clear on this but I seem to rember buying individual bottle of goop with an ant on them at some point rather than the beetle bug design.

Different sets seem to have come with different sized bottles as well. I'm trying to figure out what came with what. If you know the exact colors and sizes that came with a particular set please send me a list.

      • Picadoos came with eight 3/4oz size bottles.
      • Super Cartoon Maker came with eight 3/4oz size bottles.
      • The Mini Dragons Maker Pak came with four 2 oz bottles (red, yellow, white, blue).
      • Fright Factory had four 2 oz bottles (black red, nite glow, flesh).
