This was one of the most uneven sets in the Creepy Crawlers line. Several of the molds have a fairly realistic looking quality to them like the Giant Mosquito, Giant Mite, and the Giant Cockroach. Others seem to be hopelessly trapped in the late 60's as shown in the Giant Bee, the Giant Ant, and the Giant Snake. Very 'Mod' ! Very 'Hip'!
This set was also available as a "play pak". I am uncertain as to which molds were not included in this smaller set. The three main suspects are the Giant Mite, the Giant Crab, and the Giant Scorpion. This full set was also sold in a regular box and a foil wrapped box. The basic color of the box was a blue and had a line drawing of a Giant Flying Bee. I was guessing when I colorized the instruction manual that it would be a blue color. The actual color was a off red.
The the Giant Crab, the Giant Ant, the Giant Snake, and the Giant Bee had indentations on the molds so that you could create eyes for your insects. At first I though there was some sort of insert to be placed with these molds.
The giant Cockroach was also sold as a separate mold under the name "Squirties" which would come with a rubber bladder making two part molds attachment that you could fill with water and squirt people with. The roach that was part of the squirties set is slightly different in that it had a spike sticking up out of the middle in the center of the Roachs back. If you have this you only need the two parts to make the water bladder to have a true thing maker collectible. Heck all these toys are collectible. And should you find a spare one... please let me know!
I have had poor luck trying to get these to work with my old Thingmaker as it does not seem to heat the mold evenly on cold days.
To aid collector below is a picture of all the molds in the set arranged by their respective part numbers. There were nine molds in this set. This should aid you if you are trying to collect a set of molds one or two at a time. Drop me a note at fox@snowcrest.net.
