Troubled Mind
I've walked this land
over
No peace did I find
Brother fighting brother
O what troubled mind.
Where has love gone
When did hate begin
I've searched for the answer
And I've searched for a friend.
I've sat in a meadow
On grass soft and green
Cried in anguished sorrow
At the trouble I've seen.
Babies who are hungry
Wars that are fought
There's much man must answer
For the trouble he's brought.
I've stood on a corner
A busy thoroughfare
Watched as people passed
And little did they care
That I was a stranger
Alone in the town
No smiles to greet me
Only faces with a frown.
My body's growing weary
No place for my head
Sun is slowly setting
Nights I've come to dread.
I feel the cold around me
Strangeness everywhere
I want to call to someone
But this I do not dare.
Lord I'll go on searching
I'll walk far and wide
'Til I find a quiet place
Where your love doth abide
Show me where to travel
Show me where I'll find
Your love unabounding
And no troubled mind.
