Those were the happy days
I wish I were still there
She'd read first from the old book
Than a chapter from the new
When Daddy started praying
Brother Jim and I prayed too
I still see Mama sitting
The bible in her hand
The smile of happiness
As we would gather 'round
I still hear Daddy Praying
As he did time and again
And Jimmy's Hands still folded
As he softly said amen
When Mama read the

Around our kitchen table
Was love beyond compare
When Mama read the bible

We knew the Lord was with us
And sheltered in his care
The time has passed so quickly
The years have slipped away
But I remember still
As if it were today
The joy we shared together
Knowing that our Lord was there
