What is DSL Internet?
SnowCrest DSL access is a fast alternative to dialup connections that works over copper wires in existing telephone lines. DSL is able to provide regular telephone service as well as Internet access on the same line.

How fast is DSL Internet?
SnowCrest DSL runs at a maximum of 1.5 megabits per second (1.5Mbps) while downloading data, and at a maximum of 128 kilobits per second (128Kbps) while uploading data. Speeds will vary depending on external factors such as general Internet congestion.

Why DSL Internet?
SnowCrest DSL provides a high-speed Internet connection that is much faster than dialup. With download speeds that can go up to 20 times faster than convential dialup, SnowCrest DSL is a service for those who want an affordable, high-speed Internet connection. Also, the connection is always on, so all you have to do is open your favorite Internet program and you are online!

Where is DSL Internet available?
SnowCrest DSL is currently offered in Dunsmuir, Chico, Mt. Shasta, Redding, Red Bluff, Yreka, and Weed. Individual locations within these communities must have a DSL Internet validation conducted to determine the availability of SnowCrest DSL.

How is the equipment installed?
SnowCrest cannot conduct the physical installation of the DSL equipment. However, easy-to-follow instructions come with the DSL equipment, and usually the process only involves plugging the DSL modem into a phone jack and power outlet.

What comes with the equipment?
The DSL Modem and phone line filters used to separate regular phones from the DSL line.
