Winter Ball, Red Bluff, February 9 - Enjoy the more civilized side of Civil War Reenacting where every loyal Union man, Confederate and Civilian will enjoy a night of dinner and dancing. with a family dance featuring lively music, festive refreshments and company of dear friends. Our 'formal' Winter Ball starts off our season at the VFW Hall, located at the corner of Oak Street and Jackson Street in Red Bluff. Music will be provided by The Back Forty Band. The event will start at 6 p.m. and continue until 11 p.m. For further info, contact Janice Drake.
Redding Gun Show, Redding, March 1-2 - The Redding Gun and Antique Show is put on by the Redding Rotary at the Redding Civic Center, which for the 72nd, is a unit wide recruiting detail. In exchange for color guard duties at the Rotary Football Championship Game at Shasta College, the 72nd gets a free table/booth at the Show, and if you are in uniform, you get in free. Civilian members also get in free if they appear in period dress. So show up at 7:30 to 8:00 to help set up on Saturday morning. For further info, contact Tom Boullion
RACW Tactical, Anderson River Park, March 29-30 - The start of the year Club-wide tactical will be held Anderson River Park Park, located on the Sacramento River. There we'll meet with the rest of the RACW units to practice safety, drill and generally prepare for the new season. Red Bluff Grand Review/Round-Up Parade, Red Bluff, April 19 - The premiere event of the 72nd! In celebration of the Red Bluff Heritage Days and the Red Bluff Rodeo, the RACW participates in the parade that kicks off the Red Bluff Round-Up. This gives the units of the RACW a chance to 'strut their stuff' just one week before the upcoming Battle of Dog Island. For further info, contact Rick Barram or Mark Richardson

Island Park, Red Bluff, April 25 - 27
- This
event for the RACW is in its fourth year and is set in a scenic park on the banks
of the Sacramento River. Friday is a school day event, with area 8th Grade
students touring the camps for a look at life in 1863. Saturday and Sunday
feature battles and living history.
A fantastic location in
downtown Red Bluff but hidden from all modern intrusions. This site will play
host to a school day on Friday for an anticipated 600 eighth graders!
Dog Island Park is located on
Battle of the Wilderness, Yreka, May 16-18 - This event for the RACW is in its fourth year and is set in an airy conifer forest. Located in extreme northern California, Yreka sits on Highway I-5, so it is easily accessed from anywhere in the state. This event features School Day presentations on Friday the 18th and lively battles and living history on Saturday and Sunday. For further info, contact Joe Allison
Dry Creek, Clements, September 19 - 21 - Located near Lodi just south of Sacramento, this event is set among rolling hills and small creeks School day on Friday the 19st, living history and battles on Saturday and Sunday at the Clements Stampede Grounds east of Lodi. Anderson River Park, Anderson, October 10 - 12 - This event is the return of the RACW classic area event! Located in the Anderson River Park in Anderson, this event will feature living history and battles on Saturday and Sunday, and possibly a parade to celebrate Veteran's Day. (72nd Regiment NYVI Unit Participant Events)
Redding Gun & Antique Show, Redding, March 1 - 2 - An annual event in Redding put on by the Kiwanis Club, the Union artillery (now organized under the acronym FARA) has participated in the show for several years. This year, the 72nd has been asked to participate with them to set up a booth/table to advertise the upcoming Red Bluff event and to recruit for our unit. All re-enactors in uniform or in period dress (for the civilians) will be admitted to the event free. For more info contact Tom Boullion
Fort Crook, Fall River Mills, June 7 - This will be the 72nd New York's third year for this event at the historic Fort Crook in Fall River Mills. This is a one day event scheduled for June 2nd with an arrival time of about 800 AM. There will be room to set up a camp with a company street including the Company Command tent and fly. We will participate in a flag ceremony on Saturday morning for the honor of the Country. For further info, contact Steve Kerns

Duncans Mills, July 19 - 20
-This is one of the
largest events in Northern California, with all three major clubs, the RACW,
NCWA and
ACWA participating. Hosted by the California Historical Artillery
Association (CHAS),
this event is located near the
Shingletown, August 2 - A single-day event, sponsored by the 42nd Virginia. A booth/table will be set up to recruit for our unit. For more info, contact Mitch Kranig
The Great Silver Shipment Train
Battle, Virginia City, NV, August 30 - September 1 -
Dubbed "The Battle That Never Was", this event
is put on by our reenacting partners, the Comstock Civil War Reenactors (CCWR),
in Virginia City, NV. The battles at this event will feature the former
McCloud railroad train. Virginia City is a tourist-oriented town, with
lots of shops catering to the Old West and Civil War era-minded person.

Moorpark, Simi Valley, November 8 - 9 - Dubbed the "The Largest and Grandest Civil War Event in Southern California", this event is being put on by the Richmond Howitzer Battalion and the Moorpark Rotary Club in southern California. Supported also by the Fort Tejon Historical Association, this event will be taking the place of our aborted East Coast trip to Gettysburg. Since this event is taking place in southern California, it tends to attract Hollywood types who participate in the event. This year will be featuring Bruce Boxleitner and possibly one of the stars of 'Gettysburg' (name still being withheld pending the outcome of negotiations). Moorpark is at the west end of Simi Valley and the north end of Thousand Oaks.
FROM CENTRAL L. A. AREA : Take the 101 Freeway to Thousand Oaks. Go north on 23 Freeway to Moorpark (perhaps 5 miles) to the Tierra Rejada exit. At the end of the ramp, turn left (west). About three hundred yards, turn left (south) onto Sunset Valley Road and proceed approximately 1/2 mile to the site which will be on the left, Tierra Rejada Ranch, 3370 Sunset Valley Road.
FROM VALENCIA AND NORTHERN SAN FERNANDO VALLEY: Take the 118 Freeway to Simi Valley. At the west end of Simi Valley, the 118 Freeway will turn into the 23 Freeway as it passes through Moorpark toward Thousand Oaks. Exit at the Tierra Rejada exit. At the end of the ramp, turn right. About four hundred yards, turn left onto Sunset Valley Road and proceed approximately 3/4 mile to the site, Tierra Rejada Ranch, 3370 Sunset Valley Road.
